How To Get Involved

Calgary Wheelchair Curling is pleased to offer programs and consultations services to people interested in getting involved in the game of wheelchair curling across Alberta.  Individuals are encouraged and invited to become involved as players, coaches, officials, or volunteers.

Players

Calgary Wheelchair Curling Association is committed to providing opportunities for individuals with a disability to participate in a recreational sport program at the level they choose.  We promote growth at the initiation, developmental, competitive and elite levels, and offers programs for youth, women, and men.  We also encourage participation and play of members with other curling programs to demonstrate and encourage inclusive play among all who love the game of curling.

Wheelchair curling is a sport for everyone – of all ages and abilities.

We believe that inclusion is fundamental to achieving equity and access in sport and therefore we promote the an “everyone plays” concept, encouraging athletes with a disability and able-bodied athletes to compete together on the same curling ice which allows for fair and equitable competition for all.

Coaches & Officials

Individuals interested in becoming involved in wheelchair curling as a coach or as an official are welcome to inquire with us on the intricacies of the wheelchair game and we can also provide a contact with Curling Alberta.

Information on the requirements for coaching at all competitive levels and officiating is listed on the Curling Alberta website.

Volunteers

Do you love curling and would like to gain some experience volunteering for a growing and inclusive sport?  We can always use some help at our regular Saturday afternoon recreational program by moving curling stones, holding brooms, getting equipment ready and other similar tasks.  Wheelchair curling is a faster and more enjoyable game with volunteers providing on-ice assistance.  Email us for more information on becoming a volunteer.
